Church..ahhh feel the reverence.

So last week we were a few minutes late to church. It was fast Sunday and our ward was packed with visitors for baby blessings and a baptism. We squished into a row in the overflow with only 5 empty seats--assuming Gdog would sit on someone's lap. S was still printing out his lesson at the house when we left, so he was a few minutes behind us. When he arrived he opted for a seat 2 rows in front of us. (Hey is there room up there for me? How did I end up with all the kids. :))

Just after the sacrament, Gdog realizes Daddy is sitting in front of us. "Hey" he whispers. "Hey Daddy" (getting to the full volume of whisper) "Hey Daddy!!" S afraid of the ramifications of not acknowledging him, turns and smiles.

This however does nothing to discourage Gdog."Daddy we are back here. Can you see me?"

Now S knows if he doesn't respond there will be more people listening to the discussion than the row in between us, so he responds whispering "I see you Gdog. I have to sit here because there is not a chair for me back there." Gdog looks around, then moves to the other side of M. He taps the teen sitting next to M (who BTW is visiting, not a member of our ward). Then in the loudest mad whisper his 4-year old self can muster he says "You have to move." She smiles trying to hold in a laugh. "Now! That is my Daddy's chair and you took it."

I laughed and laughed, only because this is my life every Sunday-- and it seems like it will never be over! I know one day it will, and maybe then I'll get something out of the Sacrament talks besides smashed up pretzels on my skirt!

I hear you! It at least it is entertaining to most people around us. I have to keep remembering that there is a purpose to going to church even when I don't hear a thing the speaker says. Obedience and example....repeat the mantra...obedience and example...that is why I am going. And if I am able to pull any other thing out of sacrement meeting then we call it a bonus day! :)
