So it is the begining of the school year again, and for FHE Shawn gave each kid in our family a Father's Blessing. Right before we began, I tried to explain why Shawn did this, and how he had the athority to do it. (You had to have been there 3 months ago, when I had been sick and Shawn gave me a blessing while Gavin looked on. One week later for "nightly prayers" Gavin decided to place his hands on my head and bless me to be "smarter". ....didn't work by the way.)
So I explained again, this time more carefully, that Daddy has the priesthood, and that means the power to act in Heavenly Father's name. Next, we talked about how when he grows up a little and is 12 and is keeping the commandments he can hold the priesthood too. He nodded and smiled.
After Shawn finished giving everyone their blessing I wanted to test Gavin's understanding. I asked "Gavin, why can Daddy bless people but Mommy can't?"
His reply "because Daddy is taller."
Sigh.....Yes we are going to have to cover this again another day. (Maybe this is why I am still #9 mom??)
