Calling Home with Attidude

Gavin jumps in the car after school and begins to relate his experiences of the day.  Beginning with "I got a 4 today."  (Ahhhh.. I knew the five from yesterday couldn't last, but I was hoping it would.)

"Why did you get a number cut off today?" I ask as neutrally as I can.

"I told the teacher I wanted to go to the office and call home.  She wouldn't give me the ticket to call you." (He has to show the office the ticket from his teacher because of an incident earlier this week where he told them he had permission and didn't.)

He continues with his story.... "Then I said to myself--not to her!-- 'I wish this year was like first grade and I didn't need a stinkin' ticket to call home.' Then she went over to my number and cut off a freaking number!"

so funny! Why does he want to call home, just to chat or does he have a good reason? WHat a funny boy!

He wants to ask me to come pick him up from school. :( In one way I appreciate that he can't just call me when he is frustrated; that he has to work things out himself. On the other hand I want him to have a resource when he feels like he is being treated unfairly. It has been a rough year thus far.

His word choice is funny. I guess I can be happy he isn't using swear words. :)
