This is the first year that we are having a friend party for Gavin. (Since his birthday falls between Christmas and New Years it is difficult to get together with friends.)
After much discussion, (climbing wall, laser tag, anti-gravity, party at house) Gavin decided to have his birthday party at Sand Hollow Aquatic Center. I made up invitations according to his list of 9 boys and Marissa drove Gavin around the neighborhood delivering five of them. The other four invitations were for kids he met this year in school, and I don't know their last names let alone their addresses.
This morning I put the 4 invitations, with the names of the invities on the back of them, in his backpack, and instructed him to hand them out before school.
When he walked thought the door this afternoon, and I asked how it went delivering the invitations.
"It went good" was his reply.
"Were all the boys at school today?"
"Yeah, but I didn't have an extra one."
"An extra invitation?" I quarried
"Yeah, I invited a girl to my party." he said simply.
"OK. Great. Which girl?"
"Serenity. I told her to come on Monday at 3pm"
"But the party is at the pool." I state waiting for him to put the problem together.
"I told her we'd wait for her."

So sweet of him to want to include her!! Leave a note on the front door, telling her mom where the party is. :)
Great idea Becky.
