Never Enough Time

"Hey."  I say to Gavin. "Aunt Randi is coming tonight.  I need you to pick up your legos so the family room will be clean."
"What?" replies Gavin with an excited voice.  "Is Uncle Kevin coming too?"
"Yep." I respond, knowing he is pleased to be seeing the architect of his favorite game.
Gavin let's out a whoop. "This is awesome.  Tell him Minecraft is on me!"

An hour or so later the doorbell rings, Gavin runs to open it.
"Hi!" says Gavin, pushing past Randi with two suitcases.  Then grabbing Kevin's suitcase he adds, "Here Uncle Kevin, let me help you with that!"
Kevin laughs at the attention, and scoots into the foyer with Gavin lugging his bag.
"Can I have a hug Gavin?" asks Randi noticing that Gavin's focus is completely on Kevin.
""Sure" Gavin responds giving her a quick hug before hugging Kevin again and then launching into some specifics about the game of Minecraft.
After a couple minutes of talking, Gavin is disappointed to discover they will only be staying one night, and there won't be time for playing Minecraft before bed.  He slinks off to brush his teeth as the conversation takes a twist another direction.

The next morning before school, he comes out of his room dressed in sweats and a t-shirt--not school clothes.
"Can I please stay home today?" he pleads with me.
"Nope.  You have to go to school that's how you become smarter!"  When the whining ensues I ask "Why do you want to stay home today?"
Gavin explains. "Uncle Kevin leaving this morning and we didn't have a chance to play Minecraft."
