Gavin and I sat down to complete his homework tonight. He thought the answer is where the pencil is pointed. I didn't agree, but the longer I looked at it the more I didn't know. We texted Shawn and Jocelyn. Funny thing; they also came up with different answers.
What is the shape that doesn't belong? And why?

My first thought was that the circle didn't belong there, but the more I look at it, the more shapes I see that might not belong!
WHY is the second triangle upside down? That is such a silly problem...Have you found out what the answer was supposed to be?
Gavin thinks it is the upside down triangle--because it is the only one not sitting right.
I think it is the square because it is the only repeated shape.
Dad thinks it is the rectangle because it is not in the pattern
Tiffany thinks it is the rectangle because it is the only thing that is taller.
Yes! The only one without corners! I know. The more we looked at it the more I didn't know the answer!
We have no idea. I thought about emailing the teacher, then we decided to send it in with our best guess and see if they mark it right. I will let you know on Tuesday when it comes home graded!
I think it's the circle....the only one with no corners and no straight lines. But I'll be interested to hear what the teacher thinks it is!

I think you should attach a note with all the guesses and WHY, and see what the teacher says.
