Super Hero Note

For BYU sports camp last week, Aunt Kristi bought everyone a superhero accessory--web slingers, hulk fists, captain America shield etc.
The kids had a great time playing.  I laughed out loud when I read the note that Gavin "Super Skud" left for The Hulk.

A Sign--Corrected

Randi and I have been at the "Las Vegas World Market" these past couple days.
As usual we've enjoyed reading all the sayings on the signs that different vendors are selling.

After spending the previous week (BYU Cub Camp) in a hotel room with my sweet, creative, and curious 7 year old I thought this sign should instead say;

"Kids-- the gift that keeps on talking"

For my Girls, and Nieces

I was searching for quotes for the Better U Balance Challenge and ran across this one.  I liked it, and although not appropriate for the challenge, thought to myself --ahh...that is what I wish for my daughters and nieces.

"Find the guy who calls you beautiful instead of hot, who calls you back when you hang up on him, who will lie under the stars and listen to your heartbeat, or stay awake just to watch you sleep. Who will hold your hand and tell you it will be okay, and who will work hard along side you until it is done.  The guy who is willing to do things just to see you smile.  The one who turns to his friends and says, “thats her” – Anonymous

Boys and Their Battles

Gavin and Nick are battling with a spiderman bullet shooter, and a sticky-gummy web Gavin got in a machine.  Nick has possession of the bullet shooter and so it begins...the trash talk.  Gavin challenges Nick taking on the persona of Venom (Spiderman's arch enemy) and says in an evil whisper.  "I have your web shooters. Except I don't have web shooters."  That will get him--Tiffany, Kristi and I look at each other and laugh. Gavin thinking he is clarifying himself and adds in his Venom whisper "I duplicated them when I was on you. But I don't really have them.  I am just saying that."

Lookin' Good

"Hey mom.  You look great today!"  comments Gavin as we drive to pick up Tiffany from swim this morning.

Wow, I think to myself. I haven't put on makeup and my hair is only half done--clipped in sections haphazardly on top of my head.  I am showered and not in my exercise clothes, so I guess that is a step up. Maybe my new skin regime is working.  "Thanks Gavin" I reply sweetly.

"Well..." he says taking an extra look, "you mostly look good."  Then there is a pause.

I look in the rear view mirror at his little face and I can see he is battling his desire to be honest with his desire to be kind.

"Well, except for the top of your hair, you look good..... Your hair looks static-y, you know, like you got hit by lightning."
