Let's Race

"Hey" I say. "You get dressed. I will make you chocolate milk. And we'll race to see who is faster."
"Okay" says Gdog as he peals away at a full sprint.
Minutes later he appears with his church pants on inside out, a polo with the collar popped(thank you M), and says with his finger pointing at me..."Hey Mommy, I have my dressed on! Ca Chow." (Just like Lighting McQueen!)

Swim

Swim does so much more for you than get you exercise. It gives you time with your Sis. I will be sad to see the season come to a close because these two have had such a great time together this year!

College Road trip!

We took a college road trip with Ariel to look at schools this past week. First stop was at the University of Utah.We visited her good friend DJ who is now a student there. UofU does a lot of things very well. I was most impressed with how good their English department is and how clear the path to Medical school is here. They have things set up very well for students headed in that direction. They are also extremely well organized and friendly. The down side of the U? That would have to be the sheer size and accessibility of it all. The teaching, research and facilities are state of the art, yet for one student among 30,000, it is a little daunting. Next day was University of Utah, in Logan. (The picture is with Ariel and the "French Fries"--a iconic art piece on campus.)This is a really FUN school. They have put more experiments in Space than any other college in the world (how cool is that)! They also have extremely high student involvement and incredible student integration with more than 80% of students living on campus. Next we went to BYU---my personal favorite. This picture is just outside the new Hinckley building--which BTW is beautiful and a building I think fits President Hinckley perfectly. I was so impressed here at all the new things the Y is doing. New buildings, updating communication. The library is ranked 4th in the nation for best college library. The business department #1, the engineering #3, law school top 10. It just keeps getting better. No wonder it is getting harder and harder to get in. And only 34% of the student body comes from the State of Utah. It is by far the most culturally diverse. (Religiously of course 98% of the student body is LDS--so not so diverse.) It was really great to go with her and spend some time just laughing, talking and looking at what could be a future road for her. It was incredible to think about this little baby of mine being old enough, and independent enough to be choosing her own direction in life. (sniff.. sniff.) And now the choice is up to Ariel and her Heavenly Father to determine the best path for her future. But hey...that Aggie Ice Cream is great!!
